Nothing new...

Hi all: Sorry, but not much is going on with us up here.

We had a very nice Thanksgiving with family, and I had a good day. Which pretty much meant that I could eat -- and food actually looked and smelled appetizing. Usually, I'm starving for food, but nothing sounds good (unless of course it's dipped or covered in chocolate, but that's a lifelong weakness, I think, not necessarily pregnancy-related).

We're pretty much just playing the waiting game now. Waiting for the second trimester to start so, hopefully, I can go back to sleeping just 10 hours a day instead of 15. Waiting for naseau to pass (seriously, do fast-food places need to stink up the entire city like grease and ickiness).

But, mainly, we're waiting for next Wednesday, when we (finally) go in to see the doctor.

Besides that, I'm also making an informal plea for help from anyone to convince Ray that I am not making this up and certain smells do really make me sick. Blech. He decided Sunday to have his icky guacamole dip while watching the Vikings and the entire house smelled like guacamole for hours. I opened the window and he lit a candle, but I still had to hide out in the bedroom.

Anyhow, have a good week.

Bad blogger...

Yeah, I've been neglecting my blog a bit lately, sorry. But, I do have quite a few updates for everyone, some exciting, others not so much.

Doctor. Yea! Doctor's appointment was moved up one week to Dec. 5. That was good news, as the sooner I can hear that everything is OK, the more relaxed I will be. I guess the doctor is out of the office the week I had had an appointment. Whatever. I'll take it. Plus, Ray can for sure go with me now (before it was likely but not assured). Also, the sooner I get in to the doctor, the better as my list of questions seems to be growing daily.

Rash. OK. So, the rash is irritating and itchy and awful -- and, yes, I still get it often. Maybe not daily but three or so times a week. So I'm back to thinking that I'm allergic to pregnancy. The doctor said to take Benadryl, but I'm kind of anti-medication. If I can resist the urge to itch, the rash goes away on its own quickly, within minutes. I have noticed that it typically is caused by heat. And, for those of you who are all too familiar with me, I get overheated easily, so this is a problem. Additionally, I seem to be even warmer while pregnant. So, that's on the list for the doctor.

Nausea. Well, it hit me, although I'm still not suffering too badly. Mainly, I have adverse reactions to brushing my teeth. But, I've also noticed that certain smells are setting me off (guacamole, ick, and whatever the smell is in the press room at work, very ick). I also don't like the car, I think I'm getting some sort of motion sickness or something. But, I've survived so far. Usually I'm just getting waves of nausea but not actually tossing my cookies, so to speak.

Other things are on my list, too, for the doctor. But, I do have some modesty. Trust me, it's nothing y'all want to hear about.

Besides that, things seem to be progressing well. My clothes are still (just barely) fitting and I did break out one maternity skirt, but it was a bit big -- I just wanted to be comfortable!

Ray has been a complete trooper to date but I think he is starting to "hit the wall" so to speak, so I hope this fatigue thing subsides soon! He's picked up all of my slack and has done all of the cooking, cleaning, driving, and anything else I need done. Seriously, he's Superman. But, I pledged to at least try to help a bit more next week, so maybe I'll make the bed a day or two. No, really, I do owe him a night off or two. Arby's is opening soon in Bemidji, so that's an idea...

Aside from that, life is good. The snow is flying up north, so we came south to the Twin Cities this week to see family.

I'll try to update after the weekend.

Thanks for reading!

Comments

You guys are SO funny! Whenever I'm having a bad moments, I read your comments and laugh. Thanks for all of the support.

And, just for record, I have not been craving pickles. Black olives, yes. Pickles, not so much!

See everyone soon!

Single child!

Ray decided today that this will be it for us. Not that I could blame him! Between my 2-, 3-, and 4-hour "naps" lately, the poor guy's been cleaning the house, doing the dishes, laundry and feeding me. I feel like one of the geckos, really. All I do is sleep and eat - and occasionally work.

This week was rather gross, I'll be honest. Working nine to five works well, because I come home, sleep a bit and then spend some time with Ray. But this whole working nights things really throws me off. I'm generally asleep by nine p.m., if possible, and working 'til 11 p.m. really throws me off. Usually, this is just once a week, but I had three night meetings which made for a very long week. And, if you asked Ray, he would say it also made for a rather crabby week for Bethany as well. Poor guy, he's being a trooper.

But, aside from the constant sleepiness, I've been getting a little nasea. I really thought that I could avoid it, but maybe not. No food really sounds apetizing right now and I'm living off apple juice and bananas right now - seriously, I go through a gallon of apple juice every two days.

But, then again, I really try not to complain much -- my pregnancy has thus far been quite easy compared to others' experiences. I haven't been too sick at all.

But, I have been tired. Which brings me to the title of this here entry: single child. OK, other people must buck up a lot better than I do when they're pregnant. I can't imagine going through this and being this tired and also having a 2- or 3-year-old running around the house. Seriously, I think I'm just wimpy!

And weepy. But that's another entry!

Have a good weekend! We're excited here to just sit around and relax all weekend.

An update on all sorts of topics

Well, there still isn't too much new going on up here. The recent snowfall is most interesting. But, in Baby World, there isn't too much to report. Ray is getting tired of being alone all the time, even when I'm home. Like yesterday, for instance, I got home from work a little early and took a nap from 3:30 to 6 p.m., woke up for dinner for a few TV shows, and went to bed at 10 p.m. I mean, I know I'm tired all the time, but this is ridiculous. So, we're in for another long week, I think.

Still no morning sickness or anything. Just a little dizziness in the morning and I'm super tired, obviously, all the time. I go in to the doctor five weeks from now exactly. So, we're looking forward to that. Will be nice to finally meet the doctor...

I think pretty much everyone knows now. I told my boss on Monday and she was excited for us. Said she actually thought that I might be when she saw me last week. I mean, I know there have been a few physical changes but that kinda' freaked me out. I'm a control freak in some ways and I don't like other people knowing things about me that I didn't tell them. But, whatcha' gonna' do?

Things are starting to feel more real here. Looking at baby furniture and stuff this weekend was a bit overwhelming, but totally exciting.

That's about it.

Have a good rest of the week. Stay warm.

New vitamins

Well, it turned out to be the vitamins.

After two days without taking any vitamins , I was rash-free. Then, today, I took a vitamin and was broken out all over my back by 2 p.m. So, the dr. said to take a different combination of vitamins. She said we could just change the prescription to another brand and find out if I reacted similarly or not, otherwise we could try uncoated vitamins, which she did not recommend (I guess they're gross). So, I'm to take a combination of folic acid vitamins and Flintstone's! I laughed. And, ever since, I've been humming the theme song to the TV show (slow day at work, what can I say?).

Besides that, nothing has changed. Still no naseau or anything. I like sleeping -- a lot -- but that's not too new either. This is coming from the girl who used to sleep on the bus to and from school.

Thanks for checking on us.
