Two-month checkup

Miss Lola had her two-month checkup today, which included her first round of shots.

She must have known what was coming because she made every effort this morning to make us late or keep us from going. First, she slept until I had I wake her up at 9:30, then I finally got her dressed and into her car seat at which point she decided it was a perfect time for a poopy diaper. Then, she peed all over the changing pad. When we were finally ready to go again, she spit up all over her outfit and I had to change her. It was an exhausting 45 minutes.

The doctor's visit went as one might expect. She was smiley and happy until the pediatrician began checking her over. She really didn't like the tongue compressor thing.

But the worst was yet to come. She did not handle the shots well. Not that I expected her to, but I was hopeful. Upon first stick, she shrieked like crazy -- and then when the second one came, she wanted to scream and her face remained deep red/purple, but she kinda' didn't want to breathe. the nurse had to gently nudge her to get her to take a breath. That was fun.

She slept for the next few hours, but would wake herself to up to scream and then go back to sleep. She had a slight fever this afternoon, but is smiley and happy -- enjoying her toys again -- so we're just going with it. We'll see how the night goes.

The numbers:
12 pounds, 12.8 ounces
23 inches
her head is 16 inches
All of which puts her in the 95th percentile

So all in all, we survived round one. I decided, however, that next time it's Daddy's turn to go.
