on the road again...

We returned last night after an eventful trip "home" to the Cities. Wow! Time flies by. We had a great time visiting everyone ... and even Lola did good! Smiles for everyone!

Lola did great in her new "big girl" car seat! While we had used it for quick trips to Target and the doctor, this was her first longer trip in her seat, and she absolutely loved it. She would stare out the window, glance at me to make sure she wasn't alone, and then stare at the scenery some more. Once bored with that, she played with her toys before snoozing for a bit. She spent much of the trip back home last night singing and humming to herself.

It was a great time.

She has also, for some reason or another, began this new habit of chewing on her tongue. Constantly. She even smiles while chewing on it. It is rather bizarre, I think, but it makes her happy, so we're OK with it.

In the skills department, Lola has all but mastered the art of sitting on her own. She sometimes gets too excited and turns around and falls over or reaches for everything and topples, but that is getting more and more rare. She is now reaching for us on a constant basis and letting us know when she wants us to get out of face (she pushes our hands away, or whatever is irritating her at that moment). She is rolling all over the place and even learning to push herself around a bit.

She has resisted any attempts to learning how to prop herself on her knees, so we were pretty sure that she isn't even thinking about crawling yet, but she threw her daddy for a loop this morning: Ray put her down for a nap at 8 a.m. (she didn't sleep well last night at all and was up before 6 a.m.) Well, he laid her down on her back at the foot of the bed. At 8:20 a.m. she started screaming. Ray goes in to check on her and he find her on all fours at the head of the crib. He doesn't know if she just turned onto her tummy and pushed herself up there of if she suddenly learned to crawl or something. But he found her in a "crawling position" without anywhere to go.

So you just never know I guess.

Thanks for checking on us.

P.S. Punxsutawney Phil did not make me very happy this morning.
